The Vengekeep Prophecies by Brian Farrey

SYNOPSIS: Jaxter Grimjinx comes from a long line of master thieves. But being a thief does not come naturally for Jaxter. When the Grimjinx’s biggest heist turns sour, Jaxter is the only one who can stop the repercussions. Can Jaxter persevere through his clumsiness and save Vengekeep?

CHARACTER QUALITY: Brian Farrey wrote these characters very well. They’re pretty dang funny-the whole Grimjinx family is, not just Jaxter, which I really liked. The characters were pretty predictable, which was less awesome, but overall I really liked the characters.

PLOT: The plot was interesting. At the beginning of the book, it didn’t seem possible that everything that needed to happen would fit into the 390 pages. I thought for sure that it must be a series, but Brian Farrey managed to squish it all together without making it feel too crazy. There were a couple of predictable parts, because of the predictable characters. All in all, it was a very interesting book, and I really liked seeing things from a thief’s point of view.

APPROPRIATENESS: 2 (It could arguably be a one, but I decided to put it as a two)
